after all this time, i’ve just signed up to flickr. so far i am having a lot of fun. hmmm. it is simple and easy to use, and has a lot of features i want to use for organising photos.
this shot was taken as we were speeding back to catch the ferry to return to the mainland on our last day on kangaroo island. i had to hop out of the car and quickly take the shot, so i used the IXUS. it performs OK in most circumstances i think.
it’s one of my favourite shots – mainly because the composition works, and the grass looks good. also, i did not notice those two stones when i took the shot originally, but now i think they make the picture.
i used picasa to gather a few related shots into an ‘album’, and exported the album contents to the desktop so i could easily upload them. the export facility, by default, makes the images smaller, so a lot of the information is lost, but i’ll try out a non-reduced image shortly just to see whether any difference in quality is noticeable.

You can use the lightbox plugin to display pictures larger than the post division width.
Here’s a list of WordPress plugins for Flickr.
the same issue with checking out alternative themes btw – some of the features i’d like to keep are not supported, or some of the colours and fonts are too distracting, or the raters say that it doesn’t work well.
[btw, could not see the list link in the comments box above, so thought you'd forgotten to add it - until i went to the comments edit page and noticed the different colour there... now if i hover the mouse over the words, it turns orange but wouldn't have seen it if i didnt already know it was there]
of course, flickr only gives you the basic sending on function, you have to go back to the blog to add tags, categories and summaries. but for what it’s worth, i like the functionality it provides.
now i’m uploading a lot of my ‘sets’ (flickr) from ‘albums’ (picasa). i do not think that one can send sets of photos to one’s blog, but it is possible to send the URL methinks. and, it’s rather easy to upload photos to flickr, and so i am a little hooked for the moment…
…. for some time i had in mind to post sets of photos to the blog with commentary, but was put off by the amount of time and energy i needed to invest to upload each one individually – and then i’d have trouble re-ordering them if i wanted to, and the problems with the large amount of space made by the br/ in this theme also irritates as well as not being able to simply manipulate the format of the font in the title under the picture….
more experiments may be needed….
